International House Philadelphia

About IHP

History

International House Philadelphia (IHP) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports and builds community for students and scholars from around the world who choose to make Philadelphia their home away from home.

International House has existed since 1918, and has served the Greater Philadelphia community and its international student and scholar population in a variety of ways over its 100+ years of existence. Although IHP's physical location has changed over the years the mission has remained fundamentally the same: to maintain a diverse and welcoming community and encourage understanding, respect, and cooperation among people from around the world.

"The House has endeared itself to Americans as well as to those from abroad. Its associations have woven themselves into the life and thought of many who have found here the opportunity to form life-long international friendships."

- The Alumni Register of the University of Pennsylvania, 1926

Our Programs

International Student and Scholar Events

IHP organizes regular events and outings for international students and scholars in the Philadelphia area. We help you explore and learn about the city while connecting you to other students across the region, as well as supporting you in the transition from school to employment post-graduation.
